Imprégné par la pratique du graffiti qu’il débute en 1990 à Rennes, Brez développe une peinture semblant emprunter aux codes du cubisme, du constructivisme ou encore du futurisme. Pourtant, son vocabulaire graphique est plus sûrement l’héritage de la recherche d’un style de lettre, une quête intimement liée au monde du graffiti writing.
Entre abstraction et figuration, ses peintures In Situ s’inspirent du panorama en jouant avec la surface des lieux choisis. Le travail en atelier se nourrit des formes héritées du graffiti et s’adapte au cadre limité de la toile. Il alimente à nouveau la peinture dans l’espace public dans un va et vient permanent.

Impregnated by the practice of graffiti, which he began in 1990 in Rennes, Brez develops a painting that seems to use codes from cubism, constructivism or futurism. However, his graphic language is more certainly the heritage of the research of a letter style, a quest intimately related to the world of graffiti writing.
Between abstraction and figuration, his In Situ paintings are inspired by the panorama while playing with the surface of the chosen places. The workshop work feeds on the forms inherited from graffiti and adapts to the limited frame of the canvas. He feeds again the painting in the public space in a permanent coming and going.
