Sweet home

Pierre-marie est un fin claveciniste, il m’a demandé de peindre ce mur de composition abstraite dans son salon à Rennes. L’intention était de créer une composition en aplat qui dégage un ressenti musical. Les quelques lignes qui se détachent des motifs du fond évoquaient à mes oreilles le son typique du clavecin.

Pierre-marie is a good harpsichord player, he asked me to paint this abstract composition wall in his living room in Rennes. The intention was to paint a composition with a musical feeling and a flat design, i also painted some lines are detached from the background that remind me the typical sound of the harpsichord.

Impregnated by the practice of graffiti, which he began in 1990 in Rennes, Brez develops a painting that seems to use codes from cubism, constructivism or futurism. However, his graphic language is more certainly the heritage of the research of a letter style, a quest intimately related to the world of graffiti writing. Between abstraction and figuration, his In Situ paintings are inspired by the panorama while playing with the surface of the chosen places.
