Série – Extrait de l’exposition Framework

Librement inspiré d’une peinture réalisée en 2024 avec l’artiste @cannibal_letters sur les panneaux de bois qui condamnent désormais l’ancien hôtel Arvor à Rennes. Improvisé avec un fond de peinture bordeaux cassée, du noir et un fond de jaune et d’orange pâle, contours à l’aérosol.

Je reprends les bases de ce qui était un lettrage pour en créer une forme abstraite qui peut désormais vivre d’elle même, juste pour le plaisir de la contrainte chromatique.

Freely inspired by a painting created in 2024 with @cannibal_letters on the wooden panels that now condemn the former Arvor hotel in Rennes. Improvised with a background of burgundy paint broken up with black and a yellow background, outlines in spray paint.

I take the basics of what was once lettering and use them to create an abstract form that can now stand on its own, just for the pleasure of chromatic constraint.

Impregnated by the practice of graffiti, which he began in 1990 in Rennes, Brez develops a painting that seems to use codes from cubism, constructivism or futurism. However, his graphic language is more certainly the heritage of the research of a letter style, a quest intimately related to the world of graffiti writing. Between abstraction and figuration, his In Situ paintings are inspired by the panorama while playing with the surface of the chosen places. The workshop work feeds on the forms inherited from graffiti and adapts to the limited frame of the canvas. He feeds again the painting in the public space in a permanent coming and going.
