For the Mรฉmento exhibition, I have developed a series of paintings that evoke the ephemeral memory of our time through a sporting practice associated with graffiti. It speaks of the lack of time, speed, the immediacy, the ephemeral, the heritage.
The jogging in the city serves as a pretext to document, spot, watch the city and its transformations, use it as a muse and paint on it
The polaroid format conjures up the memory, an immediate, ephemeral memory, a memory that is gifted, put away in a box, a memory that is forgotten.
Instagram, inspired by the polaroid, calls for the creation of an immediate, disposable memory, a sort of random memory, a hyperconsumption of the picture through the stories. I use it to document and communicate about my work, by staging the creative process. I mention a similarity between today’s urbanism and these ephemeral paintings, the acceleration imposed by our modern world which seems to be heading towards its end, as fast as possible.
